This We Believe: Exploring the Essential Texts of the Christian Faith

I Believe in God

Michael Niebauer Season 1 Episode 1

What do we mean when we say those two words “I believe?” What is the difference between believing in a scientific fact and believing in the God of the universe? The Apostles’ Creed begins with two words: “I believe,” and so this podcast will begin by talking about what it means when Christians say that they believe in God, or, to put it another way, we are going to address what it means to say that we have faith in God.
The episode ends with a discussion of the concept of attunement: how Christians are called to adjust their hearts and minds in response to what they profess to believe.

This We Believe is brought to you by Lexham Press, publisher of Dr. Niebauer’s forthcoming book Four Mountains: Encountering God in the Bible from Eden to Zion. Four Mountains takes readers through the whole story of the Bible through its mountains, training readers to encounter scripture like the early Christians. Learn how God uses symbols like wood, water, and fire to stitch together the Old and New Testaments, and discover how these symbols draw us up into the very life of Christ. Four Mountains can be read by individuals or as part of church Bible studies and Christian education classes.
